MEET DR. TEDD TRIPP

LCA is excited to announce that Dr. Tedd Tripp, Pastor Emertus and author of the book “Shepherding a Child’s Heart” will be speaking at our 50th Anniversary Gala. Tedd and his wife Margy started Immanuel Christian School in 1979 where they have poured countless hours into the shepherding of young hearts and minds. We look forward to hearing an encouraging word from Dr. Tripp on how we can be more intentional in shepherding the hearts of the young people God has put into our lives.

PRAYER & PRAISES

Stephen Reel, one of our Graybeal’s consultants is scheduled to have a bone marrow transplant on Thursday, April 4. Please pray that the transplant will not be delayed. Please pray for healing for Stephen and the donor.  Stephen has definitely been living this verse in his walk with cancer:

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” – Romans 15:13

General Updates

FINAL CALL to ORDER YEARBOOKS!

Dear Parents,

Please join the Keystone State Literacy Association in Celebrating Families and Reading month for April.  Attached you will find a family calendar with engaging activities for you to celebrate literacy all month long.  Families who complete the Calendar and return it to school by May 5th will be entered in a drawing for a Barnes and Noble give card.

Also during the month of April  LCA will again  be holding a book drive to help spread literacy in our community.  Books will be collected in the  Pre-k through 4th grade classrooms.  The book drive will run from April 2nd  to April 30th. We will be collecting new and gently used board books, beginning readers, and chapter books.

Please no cookbooks or adult chapter books will be collected.  We will be donating these books to several early literacy programs in our community. The class collecting the most books will be given an ice cream treat party. IF you have an questions please feel free to contact me at bordenj@cliu.org.

Last year in grades k-3 we collected 1000 books, let’s see how many we can get this year.

I appreciate your help in this great effort.

Yours in Literacy,

Julie Borden

As the IOWA assessment testing season approaches, we want to share some tips to help set your student up for success:

  1. Provide Support: Be there to offer support and encouragement throughout the process. Let your child know that you believe in their abilities and that you’re proud of their efforts.
  2. Focus on Healthy Habits: Ensure your child gets enough sleep, eats nutritious meals, and stays physically active. A healthy body contributes to a healthy mind, which is crucial for optimal performance on test day.
  3. Manage Stress: Help your child manage test-related stress. Remind them that it’s normal to feel nervous, but staying calm and focused is key.
  4. Encourage Confidence: Remind your child that standardized tests are just one measure of their abilities and that they are capable of success. Encourage them to approach the test with a positive attitude and confidence in their preparation.

By following these tips and providing your child with the necessary support and resources, you can help them feel confident and prepared to excel on standardized tests.
