Pre-K
(4 and 5 year olds)
Our youngest students thrive in our nurturing Christ-centered Pre-K environment, gaining the essential academic, social, and emotional skills for Kindergarten.
We offer full day and half-day Pre-K options for students who turn 4 by September 1.
Joyful Learning
Developing the Whole Child: Kind Hearts and Helpful Hands
We believe that Pre-K education goes beyond just academics. We develop the whole child to have a kind heart and helpful hands. Students enjoy intentional playtime interspersed with formal instruction to develop social and emotional skills. Students learn cooperation, taking turns, and empathy where conflict resolution is a regular part of learning in a loving community. Students learn to manage their personal belongings, while being nurtured and taught to care for themselves throughout the day in preparation for kindergarten and life-long learning. Recess and play-based learning provide additional opportunities for the students to learn in a community setting. In addition to dedicated specials, students develop fine motor skills through tracing, cutting, and working on a variety of projects. Our Pre-K students at LCA are proud to walk the halls in a line alongside their K-5 peers and attend chapel with the K-12 students to show they are fully prepared for their educational journey.
Academic Foundations
Curious Minds and Confident Learners
Our curriculum and instruction is carefully designed to nurture young minds in preparation for kindergarten and life-long learning. Students engage in Bible instruction, Scripture memory, and faith is integrated into every aspect of their learning. They begin their journey into early literacy with Fundations reading, focusing on phonics and beginning sight words. Penmanship is practiced and students are equipped with a foundation for writing. Our math curriculum features intentional games and direct instruction that stimulate problem-solving, build logical thinking, and strengthen understanding of numbers. Story-telling and students re-telling stories develops presentation skills and an intuitive understanding of narratives. Our Pre-K students regularly engage in science lessons, and a visiting secondary science teacher gives science experiment lessons each semester. Specials in technology, library, art, Spanish, music, and gym are taught by dedicated instructors in well-equipped spaces throughout the facility. At the end of Pre-K, we aspire for our students to leave with curiosity and confidence as they enter Kindergarten.
Trusted Care
A Secure Place for your Child
Every child deserves a joyful, safe, and inclusive environment, where they can grow, explore, and thrive. We provide this by partnering with parents through close communication and a common mission. Our Pre-K program is in a safe facility with raptor check-in technology for visitors, controlled buzz-in entry, and required clearances for all employees and volunteers. Our Pre-K kids regularly practice emergency drills with the entire school, and they develop a close bond with their teachers through joyful learning and living. A teacher aid is assigned to the Pre-K classroom to give an excellent teacher to student ratio, and our facility is cleaned daily. Our bright and open classroom is the perfect place for kids to begin their formal education in a safe place.
