recent news & updates

inclement weather reporting

With winter approaching, we wanted to review our inclement weather protocol for informing families of closures or delays.

Mrs. Hauser will send out a voicemail and text message to the phone number you provided in Renweb.  Please check your Renweb for the phone numbers you have provided.

There will also be a message on Facebook and Instagram.  It will also be listed on WFMZ.  It would be helpful if you would sign up for weather alerts from WFMZ.

In the event that school delayed by 2 hours, half day students will attend school from 10:30 – 12:30 pm

Warm Hands Warm hearts

LCA’s Student Council is leading a winter mitten and glove drive for local charities. Their goal is to collect donations now until Christmas break. As donations come in, mittens will be hung in the hallway for students to see their helpful impact! Thank you in advance for your help! Please bring all donations in by December 14th.

UGLY SWEATER DRESS DOWN DAY

LCA is having a $2 Ugly Sweater Dress DRESS DOWN DAY this Friday to benefit the junior class. Please refer to your handbook on the dress down day policy.

Donuts with Dad

Donuts for Dad will be held on Friday, January 13th from 7:30am to 8:30am.  Please watch for both the RSVP Sign-Up and Volunteers/Donations Sign-Up to be sent out prior to Christmas break.  It will be held in the Activity Center.  We look forward to seeing all the Dads at this fun and memorable event!!

(Please note: an Uncle, Grandfather, or other special father-like person in your child’s life is welcome to attend.)

PiK my kid-UPDATE

The more we learn about PikMyKid, the more excited we become and the more we know you will love the app. Whether you have an Android phone or an iPhone, at your convenience, visit the appropriate app store and download the PikMyKid app. Once downloaded, the registration process is very simple. We will begin using the PikMyKid system when we return to school on January 3rd, so get ready. Here are a couple highlights for you to consider.

  1. You will be able to easily change the pickup individual, the pickup mode, and send your child to an ‘After School’ program up to 30 minutes before dismissal. And you will receive a text notification acknowledging that change.
  2. You will receive a notification from our school as your child leaves campus. This means you will be aware of the precise moment your child is dismissed, whether it be on a bus, student driver, or in the car line. Get ready!

parents night out

Thank you to everyone who participated in and attended our first Parents Night Out!  It was a huge success!  We had 11 High School students who did an awesome job with 26 elementary children and left the evening just as exhausted as the little ones did! If you did not have a chance to donate at drop off or would like to donate to our High School students, you are welcome to drop off your donations to the main office and label the envelope, “Parents Night Out.”  Thank you all so much for such a great evening!!

frozen treats

Athletics is selling ice cream and ice pops during lunch on select Fridays.  December 16th is the next frozen treats date . The treats will be $1.

Popcorn & Pastry wednesdays

LCA Theatre department is selling popcorn and pastries during MS and HS lunches every week  on Wednesdays. Popcorn is $2 and pastries are $3.

Jingle Gram

Send your favorite mustang a Jingle Gram! This is a perfect way to spread Christmas cheer to your teacher and friends! A flier for Jingle Grams went home in your students folder. Additional Jingle Gram papers can be picked up in the main office and the Jingle Gram flier will be emailed out today.

Bus Driver

LCA is in need of a bus driver for our beautiful bus! A CDL-B license is needed with school bus endorsement. Please contact the office for more information.

Kiss the pig

In an effort to lower the price of prom, High School is organizing a Kiss the pig fundraiser. Beginning on Fri January 13th we will be collecting money in the name of different LCA staff members during lunch. A flyer will be sent home when we return in January. We will be collecting every Friday in January. The staff member that collects the most amount of money by January 25th will be kissing a pig at an upcoming assembly.
