Theater Production
We glorify God through excellent productions that develop student’s talents and skills, while telling creative and entertaining stories.
Production Excellence
Training and Refining Actors
Beginning in middle school, students are trained to project their voices, move intentionally, and sing. When transitioning to high school, students expand their skills through refining their singing and dancing skills with unique and challenging roles and productions. More complex blocking, timing, and production elements are added in high school. A wide-array of roles involving over 30 people are utilized with positions in lighting, stage crew, stage manager, and on-stage parts.
Lasting Influence
Pursuing Excellence
Under the direction of Mrs. Laurie Comly, productions sell over 1,000 tickets with four showings each spring. The LCA Theater Production competes in the annual Freddy Awards. Alum have gone on to perform in Sight and Sound and College theater productions. Theater is not an “extra-curriculum,” but rather an essential part of the LCA curriculum.
Rising Performers
A Unique Approach
Theater production intentionally refines each component and skill of the production process. From middle school to senior year, students are nurtured and trained with incrementally harder parts and challenges. As a small school, students gain valuable stage experience at a young age in preparation for more challenging roles. High school students assist in April and May with the middle school production to learn directing and production skills. Students enjoy practicing last period and after school every Wednesday afternoon. We intentionally do not schedule sports on Wednesday to allow athletes to participate in theater production.
