Seniors are not required to take math. Additionally, they must maintain an equivalent of five full courses or 20 periods. An internship counts as a full course. There are 34 periods in a week. Seniors also may continue the tradition of having up to 4 periods of early departure. As a reminder, all seniors still need a .25 credit of PE to graduate, which is not built into their schedule automatically. They may achieve this by doing one semester of either Team sports or Fitness, completing an independent PE study (this can be modified to 30 hours for .25 credit), or playing an LCA sport their senior year.
Math placement is decided by the successful completion of the previous math level; however, please indicate the intended math for next year to ensure clear communication and expectations for the school. Additionally, please note the summer is a great time for remedial math work or advancement in math if desiring a harder track.
Juniors and Seniors may choose between Forensics and Anatomy. Forensics is hands-on learning and project-based, making scientific concepts accessible to a wide-variety of students. Anatomy is an intensive course with significant memorization and content covered.

A student may complete up to .5 credit in the summer by completing an independent PE study. This is completed with the following steps:
1) Submit to the secondary principal the signed independent PE approval form requesting to do independent PE for the summer. This form includes the planned activities and the name of the supervisor of the activities. The supervisor may be a parent, and they do not have to monitor every minute of the activities but must maintain awareness and verify the student is doing the exercises recorded on their independent study log.
2) The student maintains a neat and organized log throughout the summer of the exercises completed that includes the date of the activity and the amount of time spent on the activity. The student must complete 60 hours of activity over the summer.
3) On the first day of school, submit the Independent PE completion form with the signature of the supervisor and the completed activity log to the Secondary Principal.
4) LCA will record an independent PE study with .5 credit on the student's transcript.
