Middle School 6-8

Middle School students flourish in an environment that celebrates their unique identity, fosters a strong sense of belonging, and equips them for high school.

Identity & Purpose

Discovering each Student’s Unique Identity

The middle school years are a fun and exciting time in a student’s development.  During these formative years, our faculty and staff focus on helping students discover their unique God-given gifts and talents, providing the support they need to mature into confident high schoolers.  Our humanities curriculum focuses on essential questions centered around the theme of Christian identity.  Students enjoy Socratic discussion and debate to hone their arguing skills and voice.  Faculty teach students a variety of study strategies and organizational skills to help students discover what works for their personality.   Students appreciate small class sizes, where each child is known personally by the teacher.  Elective choices and a variety of student clubs provide opportunities for students to explore their talents and interests, while a homeroom advisor is assigned to them to support their middle school journey.

Connected Community

A Welcoming Community for Every Student

Building strong relationships is essential during these formative years.  All students participate in a fall retreat at the beginning of the year to build community, and the faculty intentionally foster community.  Our middle school appreciates a cell phone free school-day environment to remove distractions from building relationships and learning.  Students enjoy a dedicated wing of the facility with opportunities for seventh and eighth graders to take elective classes together.  Middle school clubs and athletics combine sixth through eighth grade, giving leadership and mentorship opportunities to the eighth grade students.  Faculty enjoy the middle school years and the adventures that come with each day, as they model the joy of learning to their classes.  The end of year is celebrated with a trip to Dorney Park and middle school social events are held throughout the year, while the middle school are proud to combine with the high school for chapel and pep rallies.

Equipped Learners

Purposefully Preparing for High School

We intentionally equip students with the skills, knowledge, and maturity needed for a successful transition to high school.  Sixth grade is an important transition year that features a dedicated homeroom teacher, while having specials in gym, computers, Spanish, and art.  Seventh and eighth students transition to a rotating schedule and passing periods, allowing them to move from classroom to classroom throughout the day.  LCA provides small class sizes, and intentionally small math and English classes with average ratios of 1:10.  An accelerated math track is available for all middle school students, including sixth graders.  Our faculty are specialized in their content area, and students learn to manage their own google classroom and submission of assignments.  Study skills are reinforced in a dedicated weekly class where students “learn how to learn.”   Students enjoy participating in the annual Academic Fair to highlight student areas of expertise and may participate in the annual Christian Math League competition.  Students take the ITBS standardized test each Spring, and results are reviewed by faculty and sent home to parents. Throughout the education, students are trained in Biblical worldview and integration of faith and learning.
