FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ALLENTOWN, PA – May 22, 2026 – Lehigh Christian Academy (LCA) achieved a historic milestone last night at the 24th Annual FREDDY© Awards, taking home the evening’s top honor for smaller institutions: Outstanding Overall Production by a Smaller School for its spring musical, The Prince of Egypt: The Musical.
In its very first year participating in the prestigious regional high school theater program, LCA captivated the theater community, securing an incredible 10 nominations and taking home two major awards. Alongside the top production trophy, LCA’s Madilyn Osher won the award for Outstanding Technical Contribution by a Student for her exceptional work as the production’s choreographer.
The FREDDY© Awards, broadcast live on WFMZ-TV Channel 69 from the historic State Theatre Center for the Arts in Easton, recognize excellence in high school musical theater across Lehigh, Northampton, and Warren counties.
LCA, the smallest school in the competition, triumphed against a field of highly competitive, larger programs. The achievement reflects a massive, community-wide effort and veteran experience from Director Laurie Comly, who has coached many of the students for several years; approximately 50% of the small student body participated in the theater program to bring the production to life.
Theater Director Laurie Comly reflected on the whirlwind journey and the incredible dedication of her students:
“What an honor it was to have been nominated for 10 awards in our very first year participating! We brought home the highest honor a smaller school can achieve. Our kids poured so much hard work into this show, and they truly deserve to be recognized.”
Sophomore Madilyn Osher also shared her excitement following the landmark evening:
“Winning a Freddy Award is an unbelievable honor. The dedication and passion of my entire cast and crew was poured into this production, and it will forever be a cherished milestone in my artistic journey.”
Senior Josh Vazquez, who played the role of Moses, shared his reflections on the significance of the experience:
“Just being a part of Freddy awards as a small school is a blessing that none of us (the cast) will ever take for granted…we didn’t look at whether we won an award or not, but instead we look at God. Being a part of this production of the Prince of Egypt is also a blessing that I’ll cherish for life… I’m so grateful to have played the role of Moses and to portray the story and be an inspiration to viewers… I’m so grateful that musical theater brings people together… it’s the togetherness it’s the love we have for each other that’ll never fade.”
Lehigh Christian Academy extends its deepest gratitude to the production staff, parent volunteers, school leadership, and the community whose support made The Prince of Egypt: The Musical a historic, award-winning success.
