Choir

People were created to worship God.  The Bible commands in 96:1, “Sing to thee Lord a new song; sing to the Lord all the earth.”  Singing is an essential part of the curriculum and education.

Joyful Music

Igniting a Love of Music

Students begin an exciting journey of appreciation of music through a weekly music class beginning in PK that continues through grade 5.  Students in grades PK-5 learn music by practicing pitch and rhythm, while being introduced to reading music.  Students are immersed in a musical environment with dancing, drumming, clapping, hand-motions, and movement.  Each grade performs a song at the annual Christmas Concert in December that is practiced in music class.

Voices Rising

Developing the Voice

An Elementary choir elective is offered for grades 3-5.  Middle school choir elective builds on the foundation of music class and elementary choir by learning more challenging pieces in grades 6-8.  High School offers a variety of opportunities and experiences through 9-12 Concert Choir and a 9-12 Chamber Choir.  Students sing a variety of pieces from both contemporary works and classical pieces, building a wide range of vocal skills.

Vocal Excellence

Leadership and Singing

High School choir provides opportunities for select students to perform senior solos or duets.  Students also may be selected to sing for the worship band and perform at Commencement.  Chamber choir develops more advanced skills and is a select group of singers, who also performs at the Spring concert.  Students may participate in concert choir, chamber choir, and worship band at the same time, while also participating in Theater Production, providing significant opportunity for singing.
